Top 10 Badass Women in League of Legends

Top 10 Badass Women in League of Legends

From Ahri to Zyra, League of Legends is full of kickass women. Here’s our list of our 10 favorites!

10: Xayah

We’re kicking off this list on a strong note with everyone’s favorite feathered friend, Xayah! As a Attack Damage Carry (ADC) champion, Xayah uses her kit to throw sharp feathers at enemies, with her abilities allowing her to increase her Attack Speed and recall feathers back to her. Outside gameplay, Xayah is almost always seen with her partner and lover Rakan, with the pair even being combined into one unit in Set 11 of TFT. We think Xayah is a kickass character design and her kit is really unique in-game, making her a lot of fun!

9: Irelia

Irelia grew up learning silk dances, an ancient form of art from her home province of Navori. After experiencing a traumatic childhood, she was able to turn this sacred art form into a means of fighting for her people, replacing silk for blades and becoming a blade dancer. Irelia is an amazing design, uniquely transforming a culturally important art form into a means of fighting for the nation she calls home, and we absolutely adore the work the Riot Games team did on this character.

8: Yuumi

Although often derided by a majority of League of Legends players, Yuumi is undeniably the cutest champion in the game. This adorable kitty cat’s backstory features her searching the universe for her lost master, Norra, using the Book of Thresholds she sits upon. In game, Yuumi is a Support champion that can attach herself to other players, healing them and giving them buffs. We adore Yuumi for her independent, adventurous nature, and also for her ability to support her team all the way to victory!

7: Jinx

Featured in Riot’s amazing animated show Arcane, Jinx is one of League of Legends’ more chaotic champions. Accompanied by her minigun Pow-Pow and her rocket launcher Fishbones, Jinx seeks to sew chaos and destruction everywhere she goes. In game, Jinx is an ADC champion, using both her guns to deal huge damage and her ultimate ability, ‘Super Mega Death Rocket!’, to create huge explosions and finish off damaged targets. We love Jinx - her nature as a loose cannon makes her a lot of fun, and getting to dive deeper into her character in Arcane has just made us love her more.

6: Evelynn

Evelynn is an ancient demon from the deepest, darkest seams of Runeterra. She feeds on suffering and death - what a fun character! She spent time learning what people like in an effort to better catch her prey, adapting her form to best seduce them. After charming victims and luring them in, Evelynn executes them. In game, Evelynn is a Jungle Assassin, focusing on getting ahead in Jungle and then ganking lanes to gain an advantage. A character like Evelynn that can weaponize her looks in such a way is terrifying but so unique: definitely fitting for our list of badass female characters in League of Legends!

5: Neeko

STAND BACK! BIG STRONG NEEKO, COMING THROUGH! This champion is one of our absolute favorites within League of Legends, she is such a vibrant character and her design is so cool! Neeko is a Vastaya from the long lost Oovi-Kat tribe, and can use her Vastayan abilities to shapeshift into other living beings. In game, Neeko is a Middle Lane Burst Mage, rooting enemies and then bombarding them with high-damage magic attacks. Neeko’s passive ability allows her to disguise as allied champions, giving her the ability to confuse her opponents before blowing them up with her Blooming Burst and Pop Blossom abilities!

4: Samira

Samira is a notoriously stylish Shuriman thrill-seeker, taking on extremely dangerous missions in Noxus. She wields twin black powder pistols, Blaze and Thorn, as well as a custom blade called Vanquish. In game, Samira’s kit takes a lot of inspiration from character action games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry, revolving around building stacks of Style that increase her Movement Speed. She’s a Bottom Lane ADC, with her kit making use of both her guns and blade. Samira’s Ultimate ability can only be used after gaining 6 stacks of Style, unleashing a deluge of shots from her guns. Samira is just a plain cool character and feels like she’s straight out of an action movie, such a perfect fit for this list!

3: Kai’Sa

Kai’Sa was claimed by the Void when she was very young, but managed to survive almost entirely by strength of will. Upon killing the first Void creature she saw, the beast clung to her body and formed a second skin, allowing her protection from other creatures. In game, Kai’Sa’s kit as a Bottom Lane ADC allows her attacks to apply stacks of Plasma to enemies, with the fifth hit consuming all the stacks for a burst of damage. Kai’Sa’s abilities also upgrade as she gets boosts to different stats from her equipped items. This champion has such a uniquely cool design and we love how intimidating she can be when facing her in lane!

2: Qiyana

Qiyana was born into the royal family of Ixaocan, but was the last in line for succession behind her 9 sisters. After growing and mastering the elemental magic arts of Ixtal, Qiyana began to believe that the throne should be hers. This led to her challenging her eldest sister to combat and coming out victorious, gaining the respect of the people of Ixaocan but rejected by her parents due to the violence shown towards her sister. In the game, Qiyana uses this elemental magic well, making use of all the different forms of terrain across Summoner’s Rift. As a Middle Lane Assassin, Qiyana can make great use of her high mobility and high-damage attacks to quickly dispose of enemies. Qiyana just oozes cool and we adore her design, she’s also extremely fun to play as!

1: Akali

Born into the Kinkou Order, Akali was trained by Shen, but left the Order due to disagreements with Shen’s views on the balance of Ionia. Utilizing what she learned from her training, Akali swore to protect Ionia from its enemies. In game, Akali is a Top or Middle lane Assassin character, with very high mobility. She uses a variety of weapons in combat, such as kunai, shuriken and her kama. Akali is also part of the alternate universe pop group K/DA, as well as the music project True Damage. Between her awesome backstory, fun playstyle and cool music projects, Akali has to be the most badass woman in League of Legends.
