Pyro is the second element that you’re introduced to in Genshin Impact. With Outrider Amber reporting for duty, players are taught how Pyro interacts with other elements.
There are quite a bit of Pyro characters to choose from, which is great because it’s almost a necessity to have a Pyro character on your team. Here are all the Pyro characters ranked -- keep in mind that some of the rankings are debatable. Just pick something that you enjoy and that works well with your team, too!
1. Hu Tao
When it comes to damage-dealing Pyro attackers, Hu Tao’s your girl. She deals massive amounts of damage because of her extremely high base stats. Plus, since she’s a five-star character, she’ll level up to even crazier damage as you progress. She even gives extra CRIT damage to your other team members, so she’s useful both on and off the battlefield.
However, she can take a bit to get used to. Her abilities cause her to lose health, but they also do more damage the less HP she has. A lot of Hu Tao mains can keep her at 1 HP, but this can be difficult to get used to when you first start playing her.
As a Pyro character, her damage shines when it’s used with an Elemental Reaction, like Swirl or Melt. When her abilities are on cooldown, switching out is a pretty good idea.
2. Bennett
Bennett isn’t only one of the best Pyro characters in the game -- he’s also one of the best healers in the game. Despite being a four-star character, he’s one of the most popular characters to use in the game.
When he’s blowing away enemies with his Elemental Ability, he’s also buffing and healing his teammates. His abilities also come on cooldown quickly, meaning you’re able to spam healing and buffs to help your entire team.
While Bennet can deal a lot of damage, he’s best used as a support. Plus, since he’s a four-star character, he’s pretty easy to get for all players, which definitely boosts his ranking.
3. Diluc
Diluc is another fan-favorite character in Genshin Impact -- the winemaker has the potential to dish out massive damage with his large Elemental attacks. He can also constantly attack with Pyro damage on his basic attacks, meaning that he can really abuse the Elemental Reaction system.
The biggest drawback to Diluc is that he’s a Claymore user, which means he attacks pretty slow. That also means that his attacks deal more damage, so it’s really up to the player to decide how much they enjoy playing with a Claymore user.
His base stats are pretty great, and they actually get better by ascending him (which is part of the leveling-up process.) He’s not the pick for every team out there, but he’s incredibly strong for the right type of player.
4. Klee
Do you enjoy leaving traps for your enemies and literally watching them burn? If your answer was yes, then Klee is the perfect Pyro character for you.
Klee’s abilities scatter small bombs that will explode and deal massive Pyro damage to enemies after they step on them. Pair this with an Anemo character like Sucrose and you’ve got a pretty deadly setup.
Her Pyro damage is also high from the start, which means she can be a pretty good main attacker.
5. Yoimiya
Yoimiya is one of the best all-around Pyro users. She doesn’t necessarily excel in any one area, but she can hold her own in most teams in any position.
Her ability gives her auto attacks Pyro damage, which helps create Elemental Reactions. Because she attacks pretty quickly, she can deal a lot of damage to a single target in a short period of time. Using her Elemental Burst also targets a single enemy, and if she switches to another party member, they’ll do bonus Pyro damage while they attack.
This makes her the perfect attacker, secondary attacker, and even support.
6. Xiangling
Xiangling is a great four-star Pyro option, especially if you’re looking for a damage-focused support. Her Elemental Burst throws out an adorable teddy bear that breathes fire on its enemies, even when Xiangling isn’t on the battlefield.
She can also be built as a damage dealer. In fact, she can attack faster than most other characters in the game. Pair this with the fact that she can also dish out Elemental Reactions and can move around the battlefield quickly, and she easily becomes a great four-star character choice.
7. Yanfei
Yanfei is a bit of a tricky Pyro character to use -- she can deal crazy amounts of damage from far away with her basic attacks. However, she doesn’t get that same range for her skills, making her a bit tricky to learn how to use well.
Despite this, she’s a great four-star attacker to have on your team. She can easily deal Pyro damage to enemies, so you won’t have to struggle to get Elemental Reactions going.
If you use her, make sure that you’re using her basic attacks enough to gather all of her seals. You can get these by using your basic attacks, and they’ll help you keep your stamina high enough to be able to run around while you’re attacking.
8. Xinyan
If you need a shield character that can also deal decent damage, then check out Xinyan. She’s a four-star Pyro character that can also knock up enemies and apply Pyro damage to an entire mob at once. Despite being able to dish out some damage, she’s best suited to being a support.
She’s not a bad character, but not everyone plays the game using shields. For that reason, she’s pretty low on the list.
9. Amber
Amber has a pretty bad reputation in the Genshin Impact community because she’s just not very good. Bow users in general struggle because of their inaccuracy when quick shooting, but Amber’s abilities don’t really give her any kind of edge over other Pyro characters.
However, she is free to use, and you’ll be forced to use her in the early parts of the game. Her taunt can be especially useful, and it’s even more handy when used alongside the Anemo Traveler’s abilities. Once you get a fifth character, she’s generally the first person booted off of a team. Sorry, Amber, there’s just not a place for you in most Genshin Impact teams.
