How Paidia and ALESSE are Celebrating Women in Gaming on the International Day for Tolerance
The International Day for Tolerance is observed annually on November 16th to promote and encourage tolerance and respect among different cultures and societies. This day serves as a reminder of the importance of tolerance in promoting peace, understanding, and cooperation in a world that is often marked by diversity and differences. Tolerance is the best way for diverse people and mixed communities to not only survive, but thrive.
Women make up nearly half of the gamers globally, yet we live in a world where many women face toxicity, and a lack of acceptance and tolerance within their gaming communities.
For these reasons, Paidia Gaming has partnered with ALESSE to bring together gaming communities in Montréal and Toronto on the International Day for Tolerance to celebrate Women in Gaming - and work together to close the gender equity gap that has dominated our industry for decades. Paidia Gaming was founded to provide a safe space for women gamers to connect, learn, and play through initiatives that encourage all gamers to be supportive, inclusive and kind - together we can all enjoy the whole wonderful world of gaming as it is meant to be. ALESSE strives to improve the lives of women and young adults by supporting women, and the legacies of those who came before us. Together, we are creating a series of events that celebrate women gamers and the power of positive play
Le Mixer - Montréal & The Mixer - Toronto will each host a discussion panel on Women in Gaming with their own line up of incredible special guests, followed by a feature of creative gameplay with panel guests from both locations playing together in Palia, a new video game based on the idea of cooperative gaming.
18+ women gamers, diverse gamers, and allies alike are invited to join us in person for these special events. Both locations will be live streamed on Twitch for those unable to attend in-person (Montréal livestream will be broadcast in French!). If you plan on joining us in-person make sure to secure your entry ticket, for free, via the ticket links for your city below as they will be limited for each location!
